Agonda is a small and isolated village Situated at the south of Goa, located 37 km south of Margao (also known as Madgaon) and 10 km north of Chaudi. The Agonda beach of Goa is the place to be if you want to be just with yourself and the never-ending sea in front of you. The Agonda beach of India is dotted with palm trees on golden brown sands and the shores are softly washed by the gentle waves of the sea. The south of the beach has a large hill which looks beautiful and dramatic. Though the beach is not frequented much by tourists, it is the ideal getaway if you are looking for peace and silence. Since the Agonda beach of Goa is a bit secluded from the mainland, there are not many facilities that are provided here and one should take necessary things along if visiting this beach. It is not advisable to swim too far away on this beach because there are no lifeguards and the current is strong here.
Agonda Beach has recently become a nesting ground for the Olive Ridley turtles. In 2000 only one nest was observed. However, in subsequent years the number of nests has increased substantially. This has prompted the Government of Goa to declare this beach as preserved for the Olive Ridley turtle procreation. The ruins of the Fort Cabo de Rama is not far from Agonda Beach. According to local legend Lord Rama, the central figure in the Hindu Epic Ramayana stayed at this fort with his wife Sita during his 12-year exile. This fort tends to lend a historic feel to Agonda Beach.

- Be careful about the entry point. Choose a shack/restaurant to enter the beach for better accessibility. Google maps can get confusing here.
- Offers very scenic 360 degrees view - enveloped by hillocks on one side and the sands generously doted with coconut trees
