Overview

The betalbatim beach in Goa is situated just two km north to Colva and is a beach that has stretches of golden sands where one can relax with the sound of swaying palms and the shimmering waters of the Arabian Sea. Betalbatim beach is popularly known as the sunset beach of Goa. Unlike most Goa beaches that are lined up with palm trees, this beach has numerous pine trees along the shoreline. Betalbatim is known for its clean sands and beautiful surroundings. The beach is located at a distance of 5 km. from the city of Margao. Tourists who prefer quieter beaches often choose Betalbatim over its more crowded neighbor, Colva. This vast stretch of white sand beach lies just to the north of the famous Colva beach. You can literally walk up to Betalbatim beach from Colva beach. The beach is amongst the cleanest of them all and is practically deserted except for the few thatched hutments & beach shacks which cater to the few tourists that come here.

The betalbatim beach is also known as the Sunset beach as well. Though geographically Sunset Beach is marked within a kilometer from Betalbatim beach, both are one and the same as they lie on the same strip of sand. The beach bordered on the village ended with a fringe of pine trees & palm grooves with a few mango trees. In Betalbatim you will find some of the finest Goan cuisine and accommodations of the like. Often once can see tourists taking a walk from Colva beach discovering that the beach sand gets better and more cleaner as they move away from Colva. Betalbatim is almost deserted save for the few shacks. Betalbatim can be reached by bus from Margao. The shoreline is cleaner compared to the other beaches in Goa. The beach has a number of shacks dotting its shoreline which offers beach bed on rent. These beach beds offer a perfect place to relax. Betalbatim Beach also has a large tree cover which makes it a favorite picnic spot amongst the locals.

Know Before you go

• There are no water sport activities available at this beach which makes it a peaceful beach to visit Betalbatim Beach.
• Nice for walking, jogging or bathing, or just relaxing. and yet good for swimming.
• There were lifeguards covering the beach on either side and very active in ensuring that the swimmers were within reasonable bounds. Lifeguards are present till 7 pm.
