About
Gumbaz in Srirangapatna is a burial chamber of Haider Ali, the father of Tipu Sultan, his mother Fatima Begum, and Tipu Sultan himself. This tomb and mosque were built by Tipu Sultan in 1782-84 as a tribute to his illustrious father, Hyder (1722-1784 A.D.), after his death.
