About
The historical city of Mysore added another landmark with the opening of the Regional Museum of Natural History Mysore (RMNH) on 20th May 1995. is the southern regional office of the National Museum of Natural History, New Delhi, a subordinate office of the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India. It is a non-formal environmental education center built to create awareness among the public through exhibitions in galleries and various educational activities about nature, environment wildlife, and its conservation. Exhibits are the primary learning resources here. At present, the museum has two galleries: Biological Diversity and Life Through the Ages. Located on the banks of Karanji Lake, next to Mysore Zoo 3KM from Mysore Palace and with the backdrop of Chamundi hills, the Museum provides unique opportunity to explore nature and natural world through a judicious mix of models, translates, AV aids, diorama, thematic, interactive and participatory exhibits.
