Why is Kerala called Gods own country
Facts
Kerala was historically known as Keralam and it is located in South India on the Malabar Coast. Kerala has been a major source of the exporter in spice since the very beginning. This beautiful state has the lowest population growth in India. The culture here is very deeply rooted and rich and also boasts of Aryan and Dravidian cultures. The coastline here extends up to around 600 Kilometers. Kerala is supposedly one of those tourist destinations which everyone wants to visit at least once in their lifetime with the rich natural diversity, food, and beautiful backwaters. Nestled between the pristine waters of the Arabian sea on the west and the lush Western Ghat mountains on the east, its intense network of rivers and lagoons, thick forests, exotic wildlife, tranquil stretches of emerald backwaters and along the shoreline of serene beaches make it a traveler's paradise. God’s Own Country’ was coined by a leading ad agency for Kerala Tourism Board to make the state every tourist’s dream destination and it did do wonders to Kerala’s revenue. It is considered one of the marketing media successes. Today Kerala is on every traveler’s bucket list and seldom does anyone who visits Kerala go back dissatisfied.
According to Hindu mythology, Kerala was created by Lord Parasurama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu by throwing his axe across the sea to create new land for his devotees to live peacefully. So, Kerala is God's own creation, hence it is called God's own country!
