Bheemeshwari is located at a distance of 100 km south of Bangalore. Bheemeshwari is situated on the banks of the River Kaveri Lying between Shivanasamudra falls and Mekedatu (Goat's Leap) is Bheemeshwari, a perfect picnic spot where nature has created a natural habitat for the Mahseer fish and a variety of exciting animals. One can find fishing camps along this place which offer adventure games that are ideal for a team outing. However, Bheemeshwari is popular for its wildlife sanctuary along with fishing camps.

Meandering through the woody landscape amidst the forests of Karnataka is the Cauvery, the most majestic and sacred river of South India. The river offers the opportunity to both adventure and nature lovers. Nestled along this beautiful river is the Bheemeshwari Fishing & Nature Camp, world-renowned as home to the great “Mahseer” the finest and one of the largest freshwater sports fish known to man. Tucked away from the milling crowds, yet close enough for you to reach. This camp offers a slice of nature that is charming and picturesque.

Best time to visit Bheemeshwari

if you are looking to take pleasure in nature at Bheemeshwari Fishing & Nature Camp, schedule your retreat in the monsoon season like June, July or August. From the Monsoon season, the water recedes to disclose large sandbanks, the place where you can actually rest back plus refresh yourself during the evenings. Between September and February is the perfect time to go to the Bheemeshwari camp. This really is also the perfect season for bird lovers to watch birds river terns, king fisher's, fishing eagles, and lots of others varieties gather at this juncture.

Wildlife

Mammals that are spotted around the Camp include leopard, elephants, wild pigs, sambar, spotted deer, the highly endangered grizzled giant squirrel, Malabar giant squirrel, and jackals. Reptiles that can be sighted are marsh crocodile, turtles (Leith's Soft-Shelled Turtle, an endemic species is found in these waters), chameleon, python, cobra, Russell's viper, and banded krait. However, the Mahseer fish is the main attraction of the waters of River Cauvery.

Haven to over 200 species of birds, some of the commonly sighted ones are they grey-headed fish eagle, pied crested cuckoo, darter etc., just name few. Among the mammals that are spotted in the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary are the sambar, spotted deer, jackals, the highly endangered grizzled giant squirrel, the leopard, and elephants, However, the mighty Mahseer has always been a major attraction of the waters of River Cauvery here.

Bheemeshwari is located 100km away from the tech city of Bangalore, off the Kanakapura-Kollegal Highway. About 15km past the town of Kanakapura, you have to turn left at Sathnur and take the Muttathi Road. After a 5-km drive from Muttathi, you will reach Bheemeshwari Adventure & Nature Camp.
