Bababudangiri is Located at a distance of 25 km north of Chikmagalur town located in the Dattagiri Hill Range in the north of Chikmagalur town Chikkamagalauru District of Karnataka. This place is famous for its forest range which is a pilgrimage site. It attracts not just Hindus but also Muslims. A hill station most famous for its Bababudangiri Shrine is the Baba-Budan Range or Chandra Drona Parvatha as it was known in olden times, which has one of the highest mountain peaks between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris.    The loftiest point of the range is Mullaiyanagiri which is 1,926 meters above sea level.   The three large caves here said to have been sanctified by 3 Siddhas contain their icons and ‘gaddiges’ (tombs) and an annual Jatra is held here in their honor.   The enthralling scenery around makes this a much-frequented pilgrim center. Seethala Mallappana Kanive to the left side is said to have been hallowed by Sidha Seethalaya and contains a Matha and the dual shrine temple of Seethala-Mallikarjuna.   The Baba-Budan range has taken its name from the 1895 meters high Baba-Budan Giri, situated just 28 km north of Chikmagalur town. A beacon lighted here during Deepavali can be seen at Chikmagalur.   The peak takes its name from the Muslim saint, Baba-Budan, who took up residence here for more than 150 years ago and brought the coffee seeds for the first time from Yemen.

Tips

• The tour guides will insist on you to visit several spots like the shooting spots, Kavikalgandi, Bababudan Giri, etc. Honestly, most of these spots are viewable from Mullayanagiri, hence I wouldn’t suggest driving down to all the spots unless you love trekking. 
• Do not park your vehicle on the road or side of the road as the road is narrow and doing so will cause a traffic jam. 
• Please do not litter the place. If you are carrying your own food make sure that you pack all your leftovers and garbage and bring it back with you to dispose of it properly.
• Restrooms are available near the entry point, not well-mailnained advisable to avoid it. 
• There is a "Datta Peetha" situated in the mountain where people with different religions offer prayers. This is a shrine of Sufi Saint Baba Budan situated in a cave. It is a worship place for both Hindus and Muslims. If you are traveling during the rainy season you need to be cautious in the steps as this place is below inside a cave. They claim if ask with a pure heart all your wishes come true.
