About
Devikulam is a scenic location near Munnar town where you can have amazing sights of nature. The hill station of Devikulam derives its name from the Devikulam Lake in the vicinity. Devikulam means lake (kulam) of the Goddess (Devi). Devikulam is a small hill station situated lo at an altitude of about 1000 meters from sea level and at a distance of 8 km south west of Munnar in the Idukki District of the southern state of Kerala, down the Munnar-Kumily Highway, SH 19. This idyllic hill station of Devikulam with its breath-taking locales, velvet lawns and the cool fresh air is famous for its softly gushing waterfalls that cascade from steep heights and the unique flora and fauna. Legend has it that Goddess Sita, consort of Lord Rama (an incarnation of the Hindu God Vishnu) would bathe in the sparkling waters of this tranquil lake during their stay in the nearby forests. Hence the name Devikulam. There is also a small temple here dedicated to the goddess.
